What a cold shower. Bought this Thrustmaster set for my son with his own money, and since he wanted the best we ordered the mixed set with the TX Base, TX Leather steering wheel, T3PA Pro Pedals and TH8A Shifter in one bundle for $612. My son could not wait to get it and play Forza 6. On arrival we unpacked the parts, downloaded the PC driver, hooked up all the components together and were ready to update the firmware. Last thing we did we connected the power cord to the base. It immediately tripped power circuit. OK maybe the two advertised motors in the base draw lot of power. Reset the breaker and took the wheel to another plug that had GFCI and higher rated breaker. Plugged, or attempted to plug in, the wheel base and there was a big electric spark from one of the prongs and tripped GFCI and tripped breaker. The power cable also got quite warm during the fraction of a second the current was flowing. I am including picture of the power plug that was melted in this adventure. Here's my take on Thrustmaster. They started with joysticks and their products were top notch and actually made in UK. I believe that with the increase of customer base and the addition of steering wheels Thrustmaster expanded too quickly and was not able to keep their quality control up to spec. These days their product are made in China to cut costs and it explains the dive in quality of their products. Well we saw the bad reviews before we purchased the set, but the reputation that Thrustmaster was known for in past, overrode the anxiety we had reading the horror stories. Now we are just another addition to those horror stories. I am just glad that the Thrustmaster product did not cause fire in my house. We are going with the Logitech G920. We've had enough excitement and adventure with Thrustmaster to last us for long time.
