Hey Stephen,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I have a love/hate relationship with Project Cars. While I love all of the options they gave your for tailoring your wheel and your cars to your preferences it is also the most tedious game because of it. Having to tweek your wheel to perform with each car feels great from a racing perspective, but the game does a terrible job of telling people what the settings mean. One thing I LOVED about Project Cars, lots of tracks and EXCELLENT Force Feedback when you get your settings right. Honestly I think I spent more hours trying to figure out settings though than I did racing and eventually just stopped playing. I played some PCars about a month ago to see if I felt any different and all of my settings had gone back to default from unplugging my wheel and I didnt really get any driving in.

Now on the opposite end is Assetto Cora. Good driving physics on par with Project Cars, but they didnt give us any options for fine tuning our preferences which is disappointing as well. I personally think the handling physics of AC is better than PCars and the force feedback in AC on the whole feels stronger. F1 2016 is weaker on the sim driving experience but puts together a more entertaining game in terms of career mode and things to do like R&D.

I think what I really want out of a racing game is a hybrd of all these two games. A simulated racer with with some colorful game modes and enough options to customize to my preferences, but not so many that I spend all my time working on settings and not doing what I love which is racing. I suppose with AC I just got on the tracks a lot faster because there wasn't much in the way of settings to play with, same with F1 2016.

What i can say about PCars though is they have an excellent community with great ESL events and I appreciate that they do ALOT for their fans. I think I initially rated PCars around a 3.5 alot of that had to do with the game being very glitchy/buggy. I think without some of the issues its a 4 out 5...same as Assetto Corsa and F1 2016.

Let me know your thoughts,
James

James came across your site when looking around reviews of assetto corsa on xbox.I have been playing xbox racing games since the original forza. I count myself as a fairly decent sim racer always having no assists including traction control. I have just started playing Assetto Corsa and I have too say as much I was looking forward to it I am disappointed with the driving model versus Project cars, which I think is the best racing game for xbox one. I like the rawness of AS but the tuning options of the cars is not as good as PCars and the ability to adjust your wheel is second to none, I have the Thrustmaster 458 italia with the project pedals and PCars really comesorry alive. Would like to hear your views on AS as maybe I am missing something. I also have f1 2016 but am struggling with this game compared to PCars and ASAP.
