If you are looking to mount your Thrustmaster TMX or T150 on a sim racing seat or a wheel stand you have three options:

• DIY Mod
• A Wheel Stand that takes a clamp
• A Custom Ricmotech Mod

DIY Mod for Mounting a TMX or T150

First it’s important to understand how the table clamp works. Take a look at the picture below (the wheel is upside down so you can see better). Notice how the front of the wheel extends past the table and then the table sits in a grove on the wheelbase.

You can take hard cover book or piece of wood about 1 inch think and put it on top of the wheel plate on your cockpit or wheel stand and then clamp the wheel to it. To get the book or wood to be more grippy and match the look of your wheel you can get a can a spray can of black rubber coating. This will help the bottom of the wheelbase grip the wheel plate. I am not saying it’s great…I’m just saying it works.

The problem you will find is that between the force feedback and vibration you still will continually need to re-tighten the clamp as it doesn’t keep the wheel stable over the long haul.

A Wheel Stand That Takes a Table Clamp

While the Ulitmate Wheel Stand is not my favorite wheel stand, it happens to be the best wheel stand solution for the TMX and T150 wheels. This stand is designed for wheelbases that use a table clamp.

The wheel plate doesn’t have any holes in it. It’s basically a table top on a stand. The wheelbase will sit nicely on it just like a table and you can clamp it down…much sturdier than my DIY solution above. Another nice thing about this stand is that it will hold your pedals in place and you can adjust the height and angle of your wheel. There aren’t many other table clamp wheel stands that I would recommend so your options are limited. Thise gets the job done though for the TMX and T150. Ricmotech Custom Mount Adapter for TMX and T150 Wheels

This is an inexpensive mod you can get from Ricmotech that will allow you to hard mount your TMX or T150 wheelbase onto a cockpit or wheel stand. The adapter screws in to the bottom of your wheelbase, where the table clamp would normally screw in. On the bottom of the adapter there are pre-drilled holes which allow you to hard mount your wheel just like a Thrustmaster TX or T300.

Below you can see the Ricmotech adapter attached to the bottom of a T150. It fits perfectly into the bottom grooves of your wheel base and makes the wheelbase sit flat on a surface.

No more adjusting the table clamp and re-tightening between races, you can now hard mount your wheel…Problem Solved! The adapter is built out of strong industrial polyethylene, allows you to mount on most stands and rigs that have pre-drilled holes for Thrustmaster, and it comes with all the screws and instructions.

Best Solution to Hard Mount a Thrustmaster TMX or T150

While the Ultimate Wheel Stand is an easy solution, it still involves using the table clamp which is not very stable. In that regards you are best to take a look at the adapter from Ricmotech. It’s inexpensive, easy to attach, and it works. Once you have the adapter in place it opens your choices up to almost any wheel stand or racing cockpit that you want. In this post I will show how I modded a set of Thrustmaster T3PA pedals to add aftermarket Sparco face plates, a few mistakes to avoid, and a handful of other tips.

To do this you only need a couple of tools and complete a few easy steps…

Before I get into the steps of how accomplish changing out your pedal plates I think it’s important to know why I selected this particular set of pedals…

Why I Choose to Mount Sparco Pedals

After doing a bit of research online to find some inspirations on what other sim racers had done, I found that the two most popular T3PA after market pedal options were the Sparco 03779AN Race Silver Pedal Set for $37 and the Custom Accessories 16005 Red Billet Manual Pedal Pad for $11.

For both pedal sets it seemed that in most peoples experience the holes were pretty close to the holes in the T3PA’s and some people remarked that they didnt even have to drill their clutch or brake pedal.

I choose the more expensive Sparco pedals for two reasons. First because I wanted a higher quality after market pedal by a brand known for making real racing pedals. Second because the throttle pedal has a nice extension on the bottom left of the face plate that makes a heel toe technique a bit easier.

Either pedal set though would work out fine because they are made of aluminum which is a soft metal and easy to drill through.

Comparison to Original Thrustmaster Face Plates

The stock Thrustmaster face plates are about twice as think and twice as heavy as the Sparco’s. That gave me a little cause for concern about the brake pedal, since I use a load cell mod and I put a lot of pressure on the pedal face(I haven’t seen any durability issues at all since I have mounted them).

The Sparco Race Pedals are not as shiny, but much more grippy than the stock T3PA plates. They also look much more impressive sitting next to the the metal floor plate on my T3PA Pro’s.

How to Mount Custom Pedal Plates to a Thrustmaster T3PA Set

This pedal plate mod can be done on either the T3PA Pro’s or T3PA Wide pedal sets. Both sets come with the same stock face plates and mounting device.

To do this customization I used a chainsaw file, a vice, and a drill press. Overall it took about 30 minutes from start to finish. You could use a hand drill, but it will be a little more difficult to keep steady slow drilling pressure.

Removing the Stock Pedal Plates

First you need an Allen wrench to remove the pedal plates from your throttle, brake, and clutch. Each pedal has two screws. Once your remove the screws you will see underneath the pedal a plastic black mounting device. This plastic piece can come off as well.

Pro Tip: You don’t need your whole pedal set in your garage, to test to see if your holes line up correctly you can use your pedal face plates and the black plastic mounting device.

File Down the Holes on Clutch and Brake

The clutch pedal and brake pedal on the Sparco’s are exactly the same and therefore we can treat them they same from a modding perspective. They are also fairly close to having perfect holes that line up with the T3PA black plastic mounting device, but the screw doesn’t quite fit through.

My first attempt was to use the drill press to shave off a little bit of one of the middle holes in order to widen it. After a few tries and being very conservative with the drill press, I opted for a better idea…a chainsaw file.

Pro Tip: For some pedals you may not have to drill at all. Using an inexpensive chainsaw file to widen your holes might be enough to get the job done.

Using a vice and a chainsaw file, in a matter of about 30 seconds I was able to file back the aluminum in the hole to the perfect fit against the mounting device. It didn’t take much filing or pressure to make the hole just big enough. Just use two hands one either side of the file, press down a little bit, and file the hole back and forth. When you are done, you should also use a little sandpaper on the pedal to file down any metal burrs that you can cut yourself on.

The holes on the brake and clutch pedals dont require to much adjustment.

Once you do one pedal (brake or clutch), you can apply the same technique to the other.

Drilling a Hole in The Throttle Pedal

For the throttle the holes just don’t line up and it requires a new hole drilled into the face plate. I decided that the pre-drilled hole I was using for mounting would be the top right hole on the pedal and then I would drill a custom hole exactly 1 inch beneath it.

First I took the plastic black mounting device and put it on top of the pedal and lined it up to the hole on the top right. Then I shaved a pencil to fit it into the hole on the mounting device and I marked my drilling spot on the face of the pedal. After I had a pencil mark, I then used a red marker to mark the spot.

Next I took a metal drill bit and pushed it through one of the original Thrustmaster pedal plates to make sure I was selecting the right size drill bit. It’s important to get the size right, too small won’t let your screw push through and too large will result in some wiggle.

I put a little bit of motor oil on the drill bit too help keep it cool and turning smoothly, put the pedal in a vice, and drilled the hole in the pedal. If you are using the same Sparco pedals I am, you will want to be careful not to get too close the the large billet hole in the pedal. Drilling through the aluminum was quick and painless.

Once you are done with the hole you can also counter sink the hole to match the other holes in the pedal. Not only will it help look consistent, but it will also help your Allen screw sit more flush in the hole.

Once you’re done drilling, you should use a bit of sandpaper to file back any metal burrs.

Pro Tip: If you have the ability to counter-sink the hole, it will help your Allen screw fit more flush in the hole.

Mounting the Pedals on your Set

Once you have your holes filed and drilled, you are good to mount them on your Thrustmaster T3PA set. If your holes are done correctly, the pedal plates will mount super easy and give your T3PA’s a nice racing look.

Final Thoughts on Changing Your Pedal Plates

There are alot of awesome pedal plates to choose, but in my opinion finding an aluminum pair that has holes close to the stock pedals makes life a little easier. For some pedals you may not even have to drill if the holes are 1 inch apart, its possible you could get by just using a chainsaw file. I am not 100% sure, but just looking at the red billet pedals below, I think it could work without a drill.

Does it bother you that some of the rims don’t transfer vibration and force feedback exactly like a real car?

Today I’ll walk you through the basics of how to mount a real race car rim to your Thrustmaster TX and Thrustmaster T300 wheelbase. While I am by no means a electronics guru this can be accomplished with a drill and a screwdriver, the willingness to take things apart , and some good ol’fashioned elbow grease.

If all of that sounds like it’s a bit too complicated or to risky, at the end of this article I’ll also show you were you can get a good price on the best custom wheel rims for the TX and T300. These custom made rims are made to order by a licensed Thrustmaster dealer, but before we get to that, let’s take a look at you can do this yourself.

How to Custom Make Your Own Thrustmaster TX or T300 Wheel

To do this you will need to purchase a Thrustmaster GTE challenge rim, a special adapter, and a real steering wheel rim that you want to mount.

The good thing about the GTE challenge rim is that it is the least expensive rim add-on from Thrustmaster ($110) and the internal parts are the easiest to work with. In addition you need a GTE rim adapter, which you need to special order.

This is what the GTE Rim looks like with thee original wheel and center column removed and the GTE rim adapter on it. The adapter is the circular silver piece sitting around the Ferrari logo and extending over the D-pad.

Removing the exterior rim from the GTE rim isn’t to technical and only requires you to unscrew the 6 screws on the center column. Then you mount the GTE wheel adapter and screw in 3 screws to hold it in place like the picture above (One screw below Ferrari logo and then two just above to the left and right).

Choosing Which After Market Rim to Mount

When choosing a rim, you’ll need to first figure out what kind of rim shape you like and then figure out how much work will be required to mount it. For example, if you get a rim with out pre-drilled holes your going to need to drill in the center column of the wheel rim.

Below are some wheel choices at Amazon from varying brands and price ranges. The first wheel is the Thrustmaster GTE wheel you need to purchase in order to get the spare parts. The other 7 wheel rims are just a small selection of whats available at Amazon.

The larger the rim diameter you choose, then the further your fingers will be away from the paddle shifters. Now if you have large hands it’s not a problem and your finger tips will reach fine.

If your hands are smaller you may have trouble reaching since the GTE paddle shifters were made for a small diameter rim. If thats the case then you can get the optional large paddle shifters. I would suggest this in general if you are getting a full size circle racing wheel rim (over 30cm). In this case you would need to also remove the original paddle shifters for the GTE rim and mount the larger ones.

How to Mount a Real Steering Wheel to a Thrustmaster Wheelbase

So let’s take a look at how to mount an after market wheel to your Thrustmaster wheelbase. In the video below you will see an OMP racing wheel get mounted to a T300 wheelbase. The T300 and the TX are the exact same wheelbase, the only difference is one is made for PS4 and the other is for Xbox One.

Notice when he mounts the wheel he loses the d-pad. This is pretty typical in DIY solutions. Some people actually like that the D-pad is no longer there though because its more realistic looking. For me I like the functionality and I would prefer having the D-pad on the center column.

The Problem With DIY Rims

There are several issues with the do it yourself approach for custom mounting aftermarket rims.

• You can’t access the D-pad unless you have a special tools to cut the hole
• Some Rims will partially cover your action buttons
• Not all rims have pre-drilled holes in the center so you need a metal drill
• Once your take apart your Thrustmaster GTE Wheel, you void the warranty
• If you buy a large diameter rim, it may be hard to reach the paddle shifters
• The cost savings of DIY doesn’t save you very much money

How Much Money Will You Save Making Your Own Custom Rim

It depends really on how expensive of an after market rim you want to get. If you are getting a $125 dollar rim, then you will save over $100. For most people though they want the high end OMP, Momo, or Sparco rims that cost over $200 and wrapped in suede or leather.

If you are considering a high end rim your savings are reduced to about $30 and it’s probably better to purchase a custom made rim from a supplier.

For example DIY: A nice Momo rim ($230) + GTE Wheel ($110) + GTE Adapter ($30) = $370
Compared To: Made to order Momo Rim for Thrustmaster from a supplier = $400

So you can see if your looking to go the DIY route on a high end rim…

Where to Buy Custom Made After Market Rims Done for You

There are a handful of companies that make these, but my best endorsement would be Ricmotech. Not only are they a licensed Thrustmaster dealer and make high quality mod kits, but if you get the rim and there is something wrong with it, Ricmotech will take care of it for you. All of these rims are super high quality manufacturing and the mounting is being done by a professional. I have purchased several items from Ricmotech and have the highest confidence in their craftsmanship and after sale support.

My Final Thoughts

Getting a real steering wheel mounted on your TX or T300 increases your immersion factor and feel for the force feedback. These rims are not toy rims, they are real race car rims and therefore give off the vibe that you are in a real car. Getting a real rim mounted on your wheelbase yourself can be a bit of a pain, but if you have the means to do it then it is totally worth it.

A custom rim will feel better than any Thrustmaster rim hands down. I love my Thrustmaster Ferrari 599XX Evo replica rim, but it’s just not in the same class of looks and feel of my custom Momo rim. Sure a custom-solution is a little pricey, but if you are looking to take your sim racing up a notch then this is the route you need to go.

While I personally don’t do much sequential shifting and I lean towards using the H-pattern plate, I wanted to give this a try.

Thrustmaster claims it provides better inertia and an authentic feel when shifting gears in sequential mode (+ / -) and allows for a better grip and comfort than the gearshift knob, because of its height and shape…so let’s see what this gear shift knob is what it claims to be.

Shifter Knob Specs

The actual size is 4.3″ tall; 1.6″ in diameter; Weighs 0.5 lbs. It screws perfectly on the shifter stick.

The gear shift knob screwed on really easy and covers alot of the stick shifter shaft. It feels sturdy and made of quality.

Shifting in Sequential Mode

I tested out the TH8A Sequential Gearshift Knob with Dirt Rally on my TH8A shifter. I was particularly interested in finding a gear shift knob that had some more height to it so I could make faster transitions with my hands between the racing wheel and the shifter.

Overall it felt good in my hands and allowed me to almost tap just to shift gears. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s more comfortable than any other tall gear shift knob, but it’s certainly serviceable. I did feel like it accomplished what I wanted to…making a quick shift and shortening the distance between my wheel and gear box.

While the gear shift knob didn’t have any effect on my lap times, it did make my overall driving experience a bit more fluid in sequential mode.

The One Thing I Didn’t Like

I think the Thrustmaster TH8A Sequential Gearshift Knob is OVERPRICED! There are so many other great inexpensive universal shifter knobs you can get that will fit nicely on your TH8A shifter. Not all of them screw on perfect, but with a little bit of electrical tape around the shaft you can make most work.

Another drawback worth noting is that it isn’t ideal for using with the H-Pattern shifter. In my opinion it’s just not bulky enough to use with a long throw distance and aggressive shifting. You can shorten your throw with a mod kit, but I still wouldn’t recommend this shifter knob with H-Pattern shifting.

Alternative Universal Stick Shift Knobs For The TH8A

I have an awesome Sparco shifter knob that I picked up for $18 and not only was it cheaper than the Thrustmaster Sequential Knob, but it looks so much cooler and more authentic. I didn’t screw on perfect, but I wrapped 1 layer of electrical tape around the top of the TH8A shifter shaft and then it screwed on nice and tight. Most universal stick shift knobs will fit on just fine and come with multiple size conversion kits.

Thrustmaster TH8A Sequential Gearshift Knob – Conclusion

I think if you found this knob for between $12 and $18 then it’s a good value, otherwise I think you are better off looking at other options. It does what it says and is made of quality, but overall I don’t think it’s priced correctly.

It’s great that Thrustmaster offered an alternative to the ball shaped knob that comes standard on the TH8A and TH8 RS shifters and it’s convenient that it screws perfect on the shaft with no homemade solutions, but the price and the look don’t cut it for me and it’s certainly not a must own kind of product. I would much rather got a real after market shift knob made for a car and use that with my TH8A shifter in sequential mode instead.

This mod transforms your brake pedal on your pedal set from a travel sensitive potentiometer-based pedal to a force sensitive based load cell pedal.

After your first few laps of getting used to a realistic feeling race car brake, you will notice faster lap times, shortened braking distance, and MUCH less locking up.

The load cell kit was designed to replicate the pedal travel and resistance of Formula 1, Daytona Prototypes, Formula Fords and spec Miata braking systems.

This mod takes about 40 minutes to install if you already own a pair of T3PA Pro pedals…and if you don’t own a pair you can buy it installed and have Ricmotech do it for you.

RicmoTech Load Cell Brake Video Review

I bought my T3PA Pro pedals from Ricmotech and had them install it, but as you can hear from the guys in the video above, the install is quick and painless.

This mod makes every bit of difference in lap time and will revolutionize the way you brake. I didn’t even realize how inefficient my braking technique was until I upgraded to the load cell.

By adding the load cell mod, you are switching from a system that measures your braking power by how far you have pushed the pedal to a system that measures how hard you have pushed the pedal. It feels much more natural to brake and you will notice so much more consistency in your braking.

The mod gets installed directly underneath your brake pedal and eliminates the need for the conical rubber brake mod. From the outside of the pedals though you really can’t even tell there is a mod installed. The brake pedal to the right has the load cell mod installed and you can see the name Ricmotech underneath the pedal.

Here are the perks of the Ricmotech Load Cell Brake Mod:

• Works with T3PA Pro Pedals and T500 pedals
• Ricmotech will install it for free if you buy the T3PA pedals through them
• Load cell pressure WAY better than travel distance brake

The two drawbacks for me on the Ricmotech Load Cell is that it is a bit pricey and even the softest spring is pretty stiff. The stiffness takes a few laps to get used to for sure, especially after using a travel sensitive brake. Once you get used to it, you will come to appreciate the stiffness if the brake. For me personally I find that I almost never lock up the brakes anymore.

You should also be aware that installing this brake mod will void the warranty on your Thrustmaster pedals.

Who Should Buy The Ricmotech Load Cell Brake

If you already own a pair of T3PA Pro pedals or are in the market to buy T3PA Pro pedals this mod makes a huge difference.

For those that own the pedals, you can just buy the load cell and install it yourself. Installation is quick and easy with very clear instructions from Ricmotech. You can also choose to load a soft or stiff bushing when you set them up on your own.

If you are in the market for buying T3PA Pro’s then it’s easier to buy them from Ricmotech with the load cell installed.

This is what I did. I just figured if if the installation is FREE than why not just buy the pedals and let Ricmotech setup the load cell for me. Ricmotech will ask you which bushing you would like installed when you place your order.

Ricmotech Customer Service

I need to call this out specifically because I was VERY IMPRESSED with the customer service I received from Ricmotech. First they were quick to answer a question I asked prior to purchasing the T3PA’s with the load cell installed. I wanted to know if I could request to have them set the pedals up with the sift spring installed (to which they said yes).

Secondly after I purchased them, I had to send them back because there was an issue with the clutch after 30 days. Ricmotech responded to me within 30 minutes of my email, offered me trouble shooting advice, and when I couldn’t resolve, they fixed them for me. I couldn’t have been happier.

I was floored by their service and response time. it is the exact reason I will be a repeat Ricmotech customer!!!

Ricmotech Load Cell Brake Mod Review Wrap Up

This pedals will make a HUGE difference braking. I have played several games with them like DiRT Rally, Forza 6, Project Cars, and Drive club and each game they improved my times. They are a little on the pricey side, but if you own any Thrustmaster stuff then this is a worthwhile addition.

As far as functionality goes I do wish it was a little less stiff, but the trade-off of more efficient braking and a much more race car like feel, it’s hard to complain.

Today I have you covered with a super easy to install mod that you hook up to your TH8A shifter and it will reduce the forward and back shift distance by 35%.

This mod takes about 15 minutes to install and you will immediately notice not only your shift times reducing by your lap times as well.

The mod is called the Short Shift Kit and it is made by Ricmotech who is a licensed Thrustmaster partner.

The mod itself is really simple and easy to install. There really isn’t any drawbacks to adding this on your shifter. I know the folks you review the mod in the video above says its a bit pricey at $40, but I honestly think its worth every penny. This kit works by changing the geometry of the shifter which reduces the fore-aft throw by 35%. It’s the best TH8A mod kit out on the market.

You can see above its really just a new plate that sits on top of your gear plate. It installs with a couple screws and has a piece of heat tape to protect your shift stick from getting scratched.

It really doesn’t look like much, but the impact is huge. The instructions are simple to follow, but I would advice raising the heat tape a bit on the shifter stick (see video above). I installed mine according to their recommendations and have not had any issues.

The only drawback to the mod is that installing it could void your warranty on your shifter. In all honesty though, if you just unhook it, I am not sure Thrustmaster would ever know you had a mod on it, because you are not making any modifications to the hardware itself.

Who Should Buy The TH8A Short Shift Kit Mod

In my opinion everybody who own a TH8A or TH8ARS Shifter. This is a no brainer from both a lap time and feel perspective.

Ricmotech Short Shift Kit Conclusion

There are not alot of mods floating around the net that can have a significant impact on your lap times like this one. Also Ricmotech is a licensed Thrustmaster partner, so for me the trust factor goes up a bit. I think $40 bucks is a small price to pay for such a big improvement in the throw distance, especially since that was my own real complaint on the TH8A shifter.

To me this is an easy 5 out of 5 star rating. Even on the Ricmotech website there is all high reviews. For such a simple mod I think it’s worth throwing this product into gear and checking it out.

The VG Ferrari 599XX EVO Wheel Add-On rim is lite weight and is comprised of only leather and metal and is manufactured in the very same baths as the material used on Ferrari wheels, in Alcantara S.P.A’s factory. The material is actually imported from Italy for an authentic feel! Only difference is that this is an 8/10 replica.

While the design is a replica of the Ferrari 599XX EVO, Thrustmaster has put out two similar rims that this seems to be a hybrid of: The GTE Challenge Rim and the 28 GT Leather Rim. This rim looks like the GTE challenge rim, but feels more like the GT 28 rim. Another key difference is this wheel is D shaped and slightly larger in diameter. The 599XX EVO is the 4th Thrustmaster add-on rim released and the second one in 2015.

The Steering Wheel Feels Real

The EVO is incredibly lite weight and weights just over 2.5 lbs. It feels real smooth in your hands and the D-shaped rim looks fantastic. The one thing that makes this feel more immersive and authentic than other Thrustmaster rim add-on’s is it has the largest diameter (11.8″/30 cm in diameter). This wheel feels like it belongs in a high performance car, both in looks and feel. By far this is the most authentic feeling rim made by Thrustmaster. The Alcantara simply feels amazing and they padded the wheel rim so it has a nice squeeze to it in your hands.

The force feedback through the rim is really strong, so much so that I had to turn down my sensitivity settings on my TX wheel base. Typically the lighter the wheel rim, the better the force feedback, which this rim accomplishes very well.

Mean Looking Black Brushed Metal Center Column

The center column is made of 2mm thick black brushed metal and has 6 clearly identified buttons, a 3 position rotary switch with a push function in the central position, and a multi-directional D-pad. The button placement is perfect for easy access and using the buttons while you are racing.

The plastic center Ferrari emblem is the only thing that looks cheap on this wheel. The D-pad is multi-directional, the action buttons look sharp in red and blue plus I also like that they added the labels like “wash” and “pit” on them. The 3-way tact switch not only was built to last, but also works as a push in button.

Paddle Shifters Make A Strong “Click” When Engaged

On all of the Thrustmaster rims, they make high quality paddle shifers, this rim is no different. The paddle shifters turn with the wheel and make a great click sound when you engage them. Like the center column they are made of a black brushed metal.

With this wheel rim being slightly larger than other Thrustmaster wheel rims, it does extend the rach of your fingers to the paddle shifters. If you have small hands, this wheel rim, may not work for you!

Quick Release

The EVO 599XX Rim Add on rim also has the Thrustmaster quick release system that allows you to switch from one Thrustmaster steering wheel to another. It’s as simple as loosening a small screw and twisting the rim off! For me I don’t even tighten the screw, I just leave it loose for quicker changing.

This rim is the top choice for all my Thrustmaster rim add-ons. The force feedback is incredibly strong and the fact this rim is larger than other add-on’s make for extremely immersive racing. The rim itself is made of super high quality materials and you can tell from the moment you take it out the box it looks like it belongs in a real race car.

Thrustmaster really focused this rim on being authentic. Importing the material from Italy, making the wheel rim larger, using a D-shape rim, and using a steel internal hoop are truly what make this rim above and beyond the other releases.

On previous Logitech Wheels like the G27, the shifter came standard with the wheel and pedals. This time around the six speed H pattern shifter is sold separately. If you haven’t raced with a shifter before, adding one to your racing setup, adds more simulation and more immersion to your gaming experience.

Hands down it’s a no brainer to pick up this shifter, but let’s review it and make sure it’s worth the $60 bucks they are asking for it.

Great Durability And Comfort

The Driving Force Shifter is about 1.5 lbs and made with a solid steel gear shaft and resembles the G27 shifter without the buttons. It is definitely a quality construction made of 90% steel and covered with hand stitched leather. Logitech certainly focused on making a a product that will not only last a long time, but be comfortable in your hands.

It has a six speed H -pattern shifter that moves smoothly and “clicks’ into gear. To get to the reverse, you have to push down on the shifter. This shifter moves and shifts like a real car and feels good in your hands. It’s got a fairly short throw and maneuvers through the gears easy. If you haven’t used a shifter with a racing game before, this will help you not only be faster, but make accurate gear changes on hairpin turns and the straightaways.

The Shifter Easily Mounts To Most Cockpits

For mounting the shifter, they include built in clamps so that you can mount it on a table or a racing rig. You will definitely want to secure it to minimize its movement while you are shifting and making racing maneuvers

Logitech recommends mounting to a Playseat, but most cockpits these days are compatible with the Logitech components.

It Has A Warranty For Piece Of Mind

The shifter comes with a two year limited hardware warrenty. While I have never had to contact them, they are reported to have excellent customer service.

The Driving Force Shifter is Compatible On Multitple Platforms

The shifter is compatible with the Logitech G29 and G920 Steering Wheels and work with any game that supports those racing wheels. This will work on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7.

Logitech Driving Force Shifter Review – Final Thoughts

Being that this is the only compatible shifter for the G29 and G920 steering wheels, there isn’t much to compare it to. I do think overall the Thrustmaster Th8A shifter is much better shifter for the Thrustmaster wheels, but that won’t work with these Logitech steering wheels and that one is more than double the price.

Adding a shifter is a big deal, it’s a much needed component for immersion and simulation. I do think the $60 is a fair price for this kind of shifter. This things works perfect for the Logitech wheels. I consider this shifter…

This rim is an 8:10 scale replica and is the largest of all the rim add-on’s. It is so realistic that it uses imported materials from Ferrari wheels in Alcantara S.P.A’s factory. This rim is wrapped in leather and contains a solid metal wheel rim. It delivers an amazing feeling of force feedback into your hands, unlike that of which the other two rims deliver. The center column is made of black brushed metal and features a d-pad, 6 assignable buttons, and a 3 way knob. The paddle shifters are also brushed metal and make a nice click sound when they are engaged and quickly fire back into position.

 

Thrustmaster Ferrari GTE F458 Wheel Add-On Review

This rim is made of re-enforced rubber and it offers the best grip of all 3 rims. It does a solid job of delivering the force feedback and really feels good in your hands. The center column is made of black brushed metal and features a d-pad, 6 assignable buttons and a 3 way spring switch. The paddle shifters are also made of brushed metal and make a distinct click sound when engaged and quickly return back into the start position.

 

Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 Rim Add On

This rim is the coolest looking rim of the 3 and was modeled after the 2011 F1 Ferrari. This rim is predominately plastic and despite the fact that many of the buttons and dials move, they are not assignable. It features a 2 d-pads, 3 metal switches, 8 buttons, and 2 rotary encoders. Overall this rim is fun with F1 cars and feels nice and wide in your hands. This rim scores for the authenticity factor, but does not feel as solid as the other two rims available.

 

ThrustmasterSteering Wheel Add Ons Wrap up

If you are looking to upgrade your Thrustmaster stock steering wheel those are your options and all are reasonably priced acording to their make and quality. I personally own them all and use them fairly interchangeably on my racing setup. All the steering wheels have their perks and make for an awesome simulated and immersive racing experience. They also all feature the same mechanism for snapping them on and off which can be completed in a matter of seconds.

Playing with the stock rims is great, but a little upgrade goes a long way!

These pedals look and feel exactly like the highly acclaimed Thrustmaster T500 pedals, that come with the T500 rim. This is definitely the pedal site we have all been waiting for Thrustmaster to deliver!

These T3pa pedals are all metal, feel really good on your feet, and offer you some nice options for setting them up for your personal preference. Thrustmaster designed these to emulate automotive standards and really stepped it up a notch engineering this pedal set.

Thrustmaster’s aim here was building a more robust standalone pedal set than the previously released T3PA’s. These pedals look and feel like they were built to last and withstand a beating! They are heavy and really feel like a quality product the moment you take them out of the box.

T3PA Pro Pedals Are Compatible With Multiple Wheels

The pro pedal set is compatible with all of the Thrustmaster steering wheels released in the T-series (TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition / TX Leather Premium Edition / T300 RS / T500 RS / T300 Ferrari GTE / / Ferrari F1 Wheel Integral T500 ). For Xbox One folks, The These pedals feel pretty damn authentic and weigh about 15 lbs. The pedals and all of the internal and external parts are metal and the large metal footrest with non-slip grating is an awesome touch. The pedal face plates look to be the same as the T3PA Wide Pedal Set, but everything else is re-hauled and re-engineered nicely.

First it allows for 2 different user positions; Floor-mounted position (F1-style) and Suspended position (GT-style). Second, you can move each of the 3 pedals spacing for 3 positions/pedal), also adjust the incline for each pedal (2 positions/pedal), and third you can adjust the height for each pedals (4 positions for the gas and 3 for the clutch and brake pedals).

T3PA Pro Gas Pedal

The Gas pedal has a nice throw length and a decent spring in it. The throw seems slightly longer than the T3PA Wide pedal set enabling more precise inputs and better control.

The Brake Pedal Has Options

The brake pedal has some awesome options so you can really customize this pedal set to your preferences. With this pedal set you get 2 different optional brake mods that you can install beneath the brake pedal. When you adjust the position of the mods, you can change the pressure force on the brake.

These are your 3 options for the brake:

NO MOD:: This is using the pedal set as is. You can adjust the brake pedal pressure force between 15 lbs. and 22 lbs.

SPRING BRAKE MOD: Contains an additional compression spring and you can adjust the brake pressure forcebetween 31 lbs. and 35 lbs .

CONICAL RUBBER BRAKE MOD: Composed of a conical stop made from industrial-grade high-density rubber (like the T3PA wide Pedal set features), for true ultra-progressive resistance at the end of the pedal’s throw range. You can adjust the brake pressure force between 44 lbs. and 66 lbs

In all three instances you can also adjust the range of travel of the brake. Having brake options is really a HUGE deal, because that is the pedal you need the most to control your car.

You can also opt to add a load cell brake, which is what I have. You can get the load cell from Ricmotech and install it in the T3PA Pedals yourself or buy the pedals with the load cell brake installed. You can read more about the load cell brake here.

T3PA Pro Clutch Pedal

The Clutch pedal has a long throw length for a clutch and the spring back return is a bit light for a clutch, but I think that was the only option Thrustmaster has because the pedals can be inverted. The clutch pedal leaves a little to be desired, but at the price point of the pedal set it is serviceable.

T3PA Pro Pedal Set Will Mount On Cockpit’s And Wheel Stands

While the pedals, themselves are plug in and play, you may want to mount them to a wheel stand or cockpit for maximum stability.

I mounted the pedals to my Playseat Evolution. The holes didn’t exactly line up with the pedal plate, like the T3PA wide pedal set did, but I was eventually able to finagle it on with some strength. Once it was on it felt extremely stable and tight.

If you are playing with your wheel mounted to a table and have these pedals on the floor, they will slide minimally, but the fact that they are 15 lbs keeps em pretty stable.

T3PA Pedals | Pros vs Cons

PROS:

Look and feel like a high quality product built to last
The brake is an improvement from the stock TX F458 pedals and the T3PA Wide Pedals
Pedals can be inverted…I personally think the GT style feels more simulated
Pedal spacing adjustments…you can put your gas and brake close to each other

CONS:

Not easily inverted, the holes don’t exactly line up, and instructions are vague
The clutch could use some more spring pressure
The face plate on the brake pedal should be wider like a real brake
Thrustmaster disclaimer states do not use these with bare feet or just socks as a pinching hazard exists

T3PA Pro Pedals vs T3PA Wide Pedals

There are 3 main differences between these two T3PA pedal sets.

The PRO pedal set is made of all metal, while the Wide Pedal Set is made mostly of plastic. The Pro Pedal Set has more adjustability including inversion and multiple brake mods, while the Wide Pedal Set has only 1 brake mode (conical rubber stopper) and only allows you to adjust the face plates. Lastly the price. The Pro deal set is $150 and the Wide Pedal set is $100.

Thrustmaster VG T3PA-PRO 3-Pedal Add-On Set Wrap Up

Hands down this is the best pedal set on the market at this price point. These are an enormous upgrade for most stock pedal sets in the Thrustmaster T-series and even the T3PA Wide Pedals. Despite the fact, that this pedal set can be a pain in the ass to invert, the quality construction and feel of these pedals on your feet make this pedal set worth every penny.

Every racing game you play with the Thrustmaster T3PA Pro Pedals, will immediately become more immersive and simulated simply because you have so many options to set these up exactly how you prefer. I am usually pretty stingy about assigning a 5 star rating, but this t3pa pedal set is a no brainer, especially because I think they nailed the price point!
